Pelosi Advises Against Biden Debating Trump

(LibertySons.org) – President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump have officially agreed to debate each other. Both men have declared they’re ready to face off. Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) doesn’t think Biden should go through with it.

On May 15, Pelosi spoke to CNN’s Manu Raju about the debate. She said that she “would never recommend going on stage with” the former president. The Democratic congresswoman also mentioned Trump’s involvement in other debates, in 2016 against Hillary Clinton and in 2020 against Biden.

Pelosi accused Trump of stalking Clinton, calling him unprofessional and unpresidential and saying he didn’t “mee[t] the dignity of the office.” The former speaker said the networks should hold town hall events to allow the candidates to make their cases to the American people.

The California lawmaker’s comments came the same day Trump accepted Biden’s challenge to debate him on June 27 and September 10. CNN will host the first town hall and it will not have an audience. ABC will host the second one.

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki appeared on “Pod Save America,” a liberal podcast hosted by former officials of ex-President Barack Obama’s administration. She said that she was skeptical that the debates would actually take place.

Psaki explained that Trump could still object to the terms that Biden’s campaign laid out. She said the former president could say he never agreed to the terms laid out by the Biden campaign, and that’s how the debate would fall apart.

Trump appears to be excited about the debate, and his campaign proposed more than two. The former president’s campaign said there “should be more than just two opportunities for the American people” and suggested there should be one in July and August. In a post on Truth Social, Trump said there should be one in October as well.

For now, it appears the show will go on.
