Republican Senator Warns Trump’s VP Selection Will Be Unexpected

(LibertySons.org) – Speculation over who former President Donald Trump might choose as a running mate has swirled over the last few months. He has thrown out many names as possible vice presidential candidates. A Republican senator recently warned Americans not to get too comfortable with any of the people mentioned by Trump or the media because his choice would surprise them.

Trump is reportedly on the hunt for his vice presidential candidate and recently hired an outside firm to vet each of the people on his list. Susie Wiles, one of his top advisers, is leading the search and narrowing down a list of candidates. The process of finding the right match will likely take months and includes the former president asking people who visit Mar-a-Lago about who they think he should choose.

Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) told POLITICO that the former POTUS asks about people when he sees them. When the senator was asked about people Trump has already named he explained that previous remarks should be taken with a grain of salt.

Tuberville said he doesn’t know much, but he knows that if Americans hear about a prospective candidate, “it ain’t going to be them. It’s all propaganda.”

Trump has floated multiple names, including Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), Governor Kristie Noem (R-SC), Senator JD Vance (R-OH), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), and many more.

The Alabama senator explained that the process is a bit like choosing a new player for a team. He said that when he was coaching and there was a new team opening, his agent always floated his name so that the team he was working for would give him a raise. He pointed out that Trump’s advisers have complained about the political consultants trying to influence the process behind the scenes.

Donald Trump Jr. has recently told the New York Post he’s pushing his dad to choose someone who would be a “fighter, ” like Tucker Carlson or Vivek Ramaswamy.
