Georgia Republican Supports Biden and Blasts Other Republicans Who ‘Fall In Line’ with Trump

( – The presidential race is heating up, and the candidates are receiving endorsements. President Joe Biden recently received one from the other side of the political aisle. That Republican also criticized Conservatives who are standing by the former POTUS.

On May 6, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution published an op-ed written by Georgia’s former Republican Lt. Governor Geoff Duncan. In it, Duncan expressed his disappointment at how many Republicans were aligned with former President Donald Trump and pointed out that some of Trump’s “fiercest detractors,” like former Attorney General Bill Barr and US Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), have pledged to support the GOP ticket.

Duncan declared, “This mentality is dead wrong.”

The former lieutenant governor said he had no choice but to support Biden in the 2024 election. He called Trump “a man who has disqualified himself through his conduct and his character.” Further, he claimed the only way the Republican Party was going to be able to rebuild was by moving on from the MAGA era. Until then, Duncan said conservatives like himself were left with no choice “but to pull the lever for Biden.”

Duncan encouraged his fellow Republicans to fill Congress with GOP lawmakers to achieve a majority that could block the incumbent president’s agenda for the next four years. He made it clear that he would vote for Biden, but he doesn’t want the Democrat to successfully implement his policies.

The Georgia Republican cited Trump’s criminal case in New York, where he’s facing 34 felony counts for allegedly falsifying business records, as a reason he won’t vote for him. He also accused the former president of promoting “conspiracy theories” that resulted in the ill-fated January 6, 2021, attack on the US capital.

Duncan shared his op-ed on X, formerly Twitter, and called the former president “a criminal defendant without a moral compass.”
