AOC Blames Muslim Boy’s Murder to DeSantis’ Damaging Gaza Refugee Rhetoric

(LibertySons.org) – The recent Hamas terrorist atrocity in Israel has hardened political fault lines in the US, with conservatives tending to back the Jewish state while liberals support the Palestinians –- and, in many cases, actively celebrate the murder of over 1,300 Israelis. With one murder in this country now linked to the ongoing violence in the Middle East, a radical Democrat congresswoman is blaming Republicans for the killing of a six-year-old Muslim boy. At the same time, she’s also trying to back away from the excesses of her own side.

Anti-Hamas Backlash Turns Violent

On October 7, Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip swarmed across Israel’s border and went on a murderous rampage through towns and kibbutzim, committing the worst mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. In response, Muslims and left-wing activists mounted huge pro-Palestinian protests in Western cities, while conservatives and mainstream liberals came out in support of Israel’s right to self-defense, Tragically, though, one American turned to violence in the aftermath of the terrorist massacre, and launched a frenzied attack on the Muslim tenants of his rental property. The October 14 assault in Plainfield, Illinois, ended with a six-year-old boy dead from multiple stab wounds and his mother badly injured. The Justice Department is classing it as an anti-Muslim hate crime.

A senseless murder like this is always a tragedy, but Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is now blaming it on Florida Governor and 2024 presidential hopeful Ron DeSantis (R). On the day of the murder, DeSantis spoke at a campaign event in Iowa and urged the Biden administration to refuse entry to Palestinian refugees from Gaza. He told his audience, “If you look at how they behave, not all of them are Hamas, but they are all antisemitic. None of them believe in Israel’s right to exist.”

AOC is now calling DeSantis’s words “incredibly destructive and dangerous” and said no senior US politician should be using that kind of rhetoric. She directly linked the language the governor used to anti-Muslim violence. However, it’s worth noting that at least one poll reported that 97% of Palestinians hold anti-Semitic beliefs, so it’s hard to argue that DeSantis is actually wrong. Meanwhile, AOC is trying to distance herself from the Democratic Socialists of America, which she’s a member of after the far-left group said the Hamas attack was “a direct result of Israel’s apartheid regime.” So far, she hasn’t left the group, but she’s called its language “unacceptable and harmful.”
