(LibertySons.org) – Former Republican political consultant Roger Stone is facing accusations that he wanted to assassinate two political opponents before the 2020 presidential elections. A recording of him apparently urging the killing of Representatives Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and Jerry Nadler (D-NY) has been released by a media outlet. Although Stone is no longer actively involved in GOP politics, liberals could be hoping that new allegations against him will rebound on Donald Trump’s 2024 election campaign.
Stone Has A Checkered History
Roger Stone has been active in conservative politics for a long time. A famously aggressive lobbyist, he helped campaign for every Republican president from Richard Nixon on. He was a key figure early on in Trump’s 2016 campaign but officially left in August 2015. However, he was later accused of being involved in alleged Russian interference in that election. Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the election ended with Stone being charged with trying to interfere with the investigation; he was convicted and sentenced to 40 months in prison and a $20,000 fine. In July 2020, Trump commuted his sentence, sparing him from actually doing any jail time; in December that year, Trump issued a full pardon.
Although Stone wasn’t involved in Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign, he obviously kept a close eye on it. Now Mediaite has released what it says is a recording of a conversation between Stone and his security chief during that campaign –- and liberals are likely to jump all over it as “evidence” of how dangerous conservatives can be.
Did Stone Plot Assassinations?
A few weeks before the 2020 election, Stone was allegedly in Caffe Europa in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with Sal Greco, a New York Police Department officer who acted as Stone’s head of security. Mediaite has a tape it says is a conversation between the two that day. In it, the talk turns to Representatives Swalwell and Nadler. Shortly before, Nadler –- who, like Swalwell, sits on the House Judiciary Committee –- had announced the committee planned to investigate Trump’s commutation of Stone’s sentence. It’s easy to see why Stone would be unhappy about that.
According to the tape, though, he was more than angry. In the recording, Stone tells Greco, “It’s time to do it… Let’s go find Swalwell… either Nadler or Swalwell has to die before the election.” A source also told Mediaite the lobbyist “had been at war with Nadler and Swalwell for years.”
Stone has dismissed the recording as fake, claiming it was generated by Artificial Intelligence.
