(LibertySons.org) – Ever since the June presidential debate, and perhaps before that, there have been rumblings and calls for President Joe Biden to step aside and let another Democrat run for president in 2024. Despite the US leader’s record over the last 3+ years, the concerns center around his age. During a recent interview, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was asked directly if she thought he should continue running for re-election.
On July 10, the seasoned legislator appeared on “Morning Joe” and was asked if she still supported Biden to officially become the Democratic nominee for November. Instead of answering yes or no, Pelosi said it was up to the president whether to continue running or not. The California lawmaker said those in the Democratic party were encouraging him to definitively decide because “time [was] running short.” Pelosi said Biden has “overwhelming support [from] the caucus.” She went on to say how much the president is adored by the party.
The interviewer then pointed out that Biden had already stated definitively that he would stay in the race, making it clear he wasn’t dropping out. The host tried to get Pelosi to answer the question again because of that fact. She said, “Whatever he decides, we go with,” indicating that Biden does indeed have her support. The former House speaker took a moment to encourage those in the Democratic party to wait and see how Biden handled the NATO conference in Washington, DC, before continuing to call on him to drop out of the race. She stated that the US leader is running the summit “magnificently” so far and believes Democrats should hold judgment about what Biden about the nomination until after its conclusion.
According to the two most recent general election polls conducted by On Point Politics of 1,000 people, Biden is even with former President Donald Trump on one and three points ahead on the other. However, average polling reported by FiveThirtyEight shows Trump ahead by 2.1%.
