(LibertySons.org) – President Joe Biden’s debate performance got tongues wagging. The POTUS seemed out of it at the event and unable to stay on track. A new report indicates the White House physician recently met with a neurologist.
After the debate, reporters with the New York Post began digging through the White House visitor logs. Dr. Kevin Cannard appeared on one of the logs for January 17, 2024. He attended a meeting with the White House physician, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, cardiologist John E. Atwood, and an unidentified individual.
Cannard and Atwood both work at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Cannard is a neurologist who specializes in movement disorders, including Parkinson’s Disease. That is a disease that affects the nervous system. Patients often experience trembling in their limbs, especially their hands. Speech can become soft and slurred. Patients sometimes have little to no facial expressions.
Parkinson’s patients often experience difficulty walking. They can lose their balance and have stiff muscles. It can also impact problem-solving, language, and mental calculations. Cannard’s visit left some in the media wondering if the president might be showing signs of the disease.
Although the visit raised questions for some, it came just weeks before the White House released the president’s annual physical. Cannard has been on staff at the White House Medical Unit since 2012. The administration released the annual physical in February and reported that Biden had consulted with a neurologist, cardiologist, orthopedic doctor, and podiatrist during the medical check-up.
The medical report stated Biden underwent “[a]n extremely detailed neurologic exam” to ensure there were no signs the president might have “multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, or ascending lateral sclerosis.” The exam determined the president did not have a tremor, any motor weakness, or other signs of any of those diseases. O’Connor gave the president a clean bill of health to continue serving but noted he suffers from sleep apnea, neuropathy in his feet, stiffened gait, hyperlipidemia, non-valvular atrial fibrillation, and reflux.
Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre refused to discuss Cannard’s visits to the White House but said the president “has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical.”
