(LibertySons.org) – On July 21, President Joe Biden posted a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account stating his intent to drop out of the 2024 presidential race before the convention. He followed up that revelation with an address to the nation from the Oval Office. Vice President Kamala Harris has stepped up as the new presumptive nominee, and the Trump campaign said they are ready for the likely face-off.
Recently, the Trump campaign told Fox News Digital that the team was “wholly prepared” for the change and is ready to “prosecute the case” against Harris for president. A campaign advisor said the Trump team left “nothing to chance” and has already developed a strategy to reveal Harris as a “weak, failed, incompetent,” and dangerous liberal. Meanwhile, Trump will continue with his rallies across the country, reaching out to his supporters with a slightly different message to beat Harris instead of Biden.
Trump campaign pollster Tony Fabrizio released a memo warning supporters of the former president of a likely support bump for the vice president. He called it the “Harris Honeymoon” period, and it’s going to look like she is pulling ahead of Trump in the race. Fabrizio said the media “coverage will be largely positive” for a time and will “energize” the Democratic base — short-term. But he said the excitement will inevitably die down, and voters will still see the state of the “economy, inflation, crime, the open border,” and “housing costs,” reminding them that the underlying issues in the presidential race have not changed. Fabrizio indicated that short-term polling won’t matter once voters look deeper into Harris.
Trump’s campaign managers also released a memo stating that the former president would have no problem with “fir[ing]” Harris, just like he did Biden via their debate. The note indicated that Trump looked forward to defeating two Democratic nominees “in the same year.”
In the latest poll by Big Village of over 1,400 likely voters, Harris was polling at 42.7%, trailing Trump by 1.6%.
