(LibertySons.org) – During previous election cycles, former President Donald Trump’s seal of approval and endorsement for candidates seemed to result in a high probably for victory. From 2018 through 2022, the number of Trump-endorsed candidates who went on to win their races ranged between 80% and 100%. While 2023 and so far, this primary season hasn’t seen as much success, the former president is still backing GOP candidates.
On May 31, Trump posted his “complete and total endorsement” of former North Las Vegas Mayor John Lee (R). The politician, who changed his political affiliation from Democrat to Republican in 2022, is running for the House to represent District 4 — which includes his previous mayoral region. The former president praised Lee for his success as mayor, stating he believed the candidate would do his best to “lower inflation, uphold the rule of law,” support the “police and military,” and defend the right to bear arms. Lee shared the endorsement on X, relaying his gratitude for the endorsement.
Lee is running against accountant and businessman Bruce Frazey and military veteran David Flippo in the Nevada primary, which takes place on June 11. That’s when it will become clear whether or not Trump’s endorsement was helpful in the race. Whoever wins will face either Representative Steven Horsford (D-NV), who currently holds the seat, or his primary challenger, Deshan Levy Shultz. Horsford was first elected to the seat in 2012 when he served until 2015. He was re-elected in 2019 to represent the district.
The former mayor touts himself as a hard worker, proven conservative leader, father, husband, grandfather, and North Las Vegas leader who “revitalized” the region. Lee has also received endorsements from Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo, former Lt. Governor Mark Hutchinson, Representative Burgess Owens, and several members of the state assembly and state Senate.
Nevada remains a key player in which party gains control of the House in November.
