(LibertySons.org) – Former President Donald Trump is only four years younger than President Joe Biden. Still, issues in recent speeches and interviews have led to questions about both men’s fitness to lead the United States, with advancing age being one of the most pressing factors. Trump has boasted numerous times about the significance of his performance on a mental sharpness test he took in 2018, but one Fox News anchor has doubts.
Anchor Jessica Tarlov brought up the issue during a broadcast of “The Five.” Decoding Fox News shared the clip on X, the social media outlet formerly known as Twitter. The excerpt begins with co-host Jeanine Pirro mentioning the exam and asking why Biden wouldn’t take it. Tarlov explains that the test the 45th president took, the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA), is what doctors use to assess people with traumatic brain injuries, so she’s unsure why someone like Biden would want to use it.
Tarlov fails to note that the MoCA test was designed to detect any form of mild cognitive dysfunction, including changes one might see in the early stages of dementia. It assesses several different types of mental functioning: memory, language, conceptual thinking, orientation, calculations, executive functions, and memory/concentration. The test takes about 10 minutes to complete and has 30 possible points. A score of 26 or higher falls within the normal range.
Tarlov calls Trump’s boasting over his results “embarrassing” as the show cuts to a clip of the former president describing the exam. He details the varying difficulty levels between the questions, noting one that had him remember a series of five words. The MAGA leader proudly added that getting the correct answer was hard enough, but a person could receive extra points for listing the items in their original order. He insisted that no one ever gets that part right — but, of course, he did.
