Trump Name Drops 2 Possible Vice President Candidates

(LibertySons.org) – The race for the White House is on, and former President Donald Trump will almost certainly be the Republican presidential nominee. Speculation is heating up over who the 45th president will choose to be his vice presidential nominee. Recently, Trump name-dropped two possible candidates.

On February 4, an interview between Trump and Maria Bartiromo aired on Fox News. During the discussion, the former president said that he doesn’t plan to announce his decision about who his running mate will be for “a little while.” He explained that the most important quality in a vice presidential pick is how they would run the country in an emergency.

Trump said his choice will have to be someone “who is going to be a good president.” The Republican candidate said he has spoken to Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) and told him that he’s a better candidate for Trump than he was for himself, referring to the senator’s failed bid for the GOP nomination.

The ex-POTUS explained that he was a good candidate, but he “was very low-key.” In recent weeks, however, Trump said Scott has been defending him and fighting for him better than he was for himself.

The 45th president also praised South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem because she said that she would never run against him, saying she could “never beat him.” He told Bartiromo that he thinks the remark was “very nice.” Noem spoke to the Fox News host, too, and said that although she speaks to the former president “all the time,” they’ve never had a conversation about being his running mate.

In January, Trump spoke to Fox News’ Bret Baier about the topic and told him that he’s keeping his options open. He mentioned Scott, Noem, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and others during the interview. Ultimately, though, he said it doesn’t matter as far as the campaign goes because the vice presidential pick won’t have that much of an impact on the race.
