(LibertySons.org) – The first US deaths related to the attacks carried out by Iranian-backed militants occurred on January 28. Three Army soldiers from Georgia were killed in an unmanned drone strike. The White House press secretary is now under fire for remarks she made about the mission of those service members.
On January 30, Karine Jean-Pierre appeared on MSNBC and expressed condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. She said the “military folks who are brave, who are […] fighting on behalf of [President Joe Biden’s] administration, of the American people, obviously, more so, more importantly.”
The press secretary was immediately attacked for her language. The idea that US service members are fighting for a president and not the American people and the Constitution didn’t sit well with many.
Jeremy Redfern, the press secretary for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and called her remarks “word salad.” He went on to say that her remark that “anyone in the military is fighting” for a presidential administration is “what is wrong with the DC ruling class.”
Conservative podcaster Kacee Allen asked whether soldiers are fighting for Biden or America. Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) criticized Jean-Pierre’s use of “folks” and said none of the military members were fighting for the Biden administration. Conservative Marina Medvin called the administration a “clown show.”
The Department of Defense identified the soldiers killed as 23-year-old Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 24-year-old Spc. Kennedy L. Sanders and 46-year-old Sgt. William Jerome Rivers. The soldiers were all assigned to More than 40 service members were also injured in the attack. Some of them are in critical but stable condition. The president has said he will retaliate but has not said what his plans are. Republicans are calling on him to attack Tehran. However, Iran has denied any part in the attack.
