Trump’s VP Pick Disappoints Many

(LibertySons.org) – The Republican primary cycle isn’t over, but former President Donald Trump is definitely leading the pack. Only he and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley are still in the race. Recently, rumors started about who he might choose as his running mate.

On January 20, Trump sat down with Fox News host Bret Baier for an interview in New Hampshire. The host asked him who he might choose if he wins the GOP nomination. Trump said that the VP choice has “never really had that much of an effect on an election” but that he “may or may not really” choose someone in the next couple of months.

The former president said his VP choice isn’t anything that needs to be decided right away because the choice “won’t have any impact at all.” He said the person he thinks that he likes “is a very good person, a pretty standard” choice. Trump said people “won’t be that surprised,” but there’s only a 25% probability that he will pick that person.

The Republican frontrunner also said he would consider Senator Tim Scott (R), who dropped out of the presidential race in November. The senator endorsed Trump the day before the interview. He called the lawmaker a “great guy” and pointed out other political figures in the state have endorsed him, too.

Rumors have persisted that Trump is considering Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) to be his running mate. The congresswoman is the third highest-ranking Republican in the House. She is also a staunch ally of the former president and has no problem taking on Democrats. She recently campaigned for him in New Hampshire. Stefanik said she “would be honored to serve in any capacity” in Trump’s administration if he wins the election.

Other women are also allegedly on Trump’s list, including South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem and former Arizona Republican gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake.
