(LibertySons.org) – Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) divorced her husband, Jayson Boebert, in 2023. The two appeared to have an amicable separation until recently. Now, he has been arrested in Colorado.
On January 9, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jayson Boebert. He’s facing several misdemeanor charges, including assault in the third degree, harassment, and prohibited use of a firearm. According to CBS News, court documents revealed the arrest stems from an altercation with his 18-year-old son at his home that same day.
Police responded to a call to Mr. Boebert’s residence at approximately 1 a.m. for a disturbance. The congresswoman and her son called the police after Jayson Boebert pushed the teen to the ground and threw his phone across the house. The teen stated that the altercation began when he and another person were lying in bed while the baby was in a laundry basket that had clothes in it. His father hit his legs and asked him why the child was in a laundry basket.
Jayson Boebert reportedly tried to grab his son’s phone multiple times but had difficulty because he was allegedly drunk. When he finally got the phone, he threw it down the stairs and then shoved his son back onto the bed. A fight broke out between Jayson and the teen. When the son contacted police, Jayson Boebert allegedly grabbed a rifle. The teen said there were many guns in the house, and he didn’t know which one he grabbed.
The altercation came just days after he got into a fight with the congresswoman at a local restaurant. According to an arrest affidavit connected to that incident, Jayson Boebert called 911 and accused Lauren Boebert of punching him in the face. Detectives determined she did not hit her ex-husband. Their 14-year-old son witnessed the incident. When police arrived, Jayson Boebert, who was intoxicated, reportedly refused to listen to instructions from officers. The report stated the police asked him to leave the restaurant at least eight times in six minutes.
Jayson Boebert is facing three charges related to the fight with the congresswoman, including obstruction of the police, disorderly conduct, and third-degree trespassing.
