(LibertySons.org) – Pre-election tensions are at an all-time high following the Colorado Supreme Court’s December 2023 decision to remove former President Donald Trump from their state’s ballot, with Maine’s secretary of state pulling a similar move. As the final judgment on the matter awaits its date with the US Supreme Court, some MAGA Republicans are planning for the worst-case scenario. One Republican official has sworn to exclude President Joe Biden from his state’s ballot if the ruling doesn’t end in Trump’s favor.
Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft insists that the US Supreme Court will most likely side with Trump, according to NBC News, but if the justices allow the Colorado ruling to stand, “chaos is ahead.” He feels that Democrats are playing hardball with the law and they’re making their own rules to win. Ashcroft believes two can play that game. He alludes to a game of basketball where one team has stopped dribbling without penalty, noting that the other side will also eventually follow suit.
Ashcroft claims his justification for the move would be Biden’s failed border policies, which he equates to “an invasion” of migrants on US soil. He adds that Harris should be barred from running, as well, because she supported participants in the 2020 George Floyd riots.
Trump’s name will remain on all state ballots until the Supreme Court ruling makes its determination on the matter. Business Insider reports that the justices plan to hear the case on February 8.
Colorado started the controversial series of events when its Supreme Court justices ruled that Trump had engaged in insurrection on January 6, 2021, egging on his supporters to storm the Capitol Building. The justices cited Section Three of the 14th Amendment to the US Constitution, which bars anyone who has sworn to uphold the Constitution and also participated in insurrection from running for office. The US Supreme Court’s ruling will be the final decision on the matter.
