(LibertySons.org) – Republican Kari Lake, who made a failed bid for Arizona’s governor seat in 2022, officially announced that she’s running for her state’s Senate. She is attempting to replace independent Krysten Sinema, who may or may not fight to keep the position. Either way, the former news anchor will have to face Democrat Rep. Ruben Gallego in the general polls if Republicans choose her as their candidate.
Lake, 54, announced her decision during a speech on Tuesday, October 10. The New York Times reports that she attacked both of her potential opponents as “Joe Biden enablers,” adding that she believed the president was a threat to the country. She offered a warning in a clip she shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that the upcoming elections would be “even crazier and nastier” than the last, adding that the people the mainstream media attack the hardest will be the ones who are working the most for the American people.
Lake laid out a vision for the future that included more US factory work and oil drilling. She promised that, if elected, she would work toward putting an end to homeless “urban camping,” increase state efforts to protect women and children and fight for election integrity.
A firm MAGA supporter, Lake has continued to insist that both she and former President Donald Trump lost unfairly in their last elections. She’s among the few election deniers who’ve remained steadfast in their belief that Democrats stole all of their big wins.
Should Lake fail to win this seat as well. The Associated Press speculates that she might be a possible choice for Trump as a running mate in the 2024 presidential election. She currently has the former president’s full endorsement for the Arizona Senate. He posted a video promoting her on Truth Social, where he stated he would need people like Lake fighting beside him when he regained the White House.
