House Rep Brings Resolution to Void Trump's Second Impeachment

Trump’s Impeachment May Be Overturned

(LibertySons.org) – Former President Donald Trump faced impeachment twice during his four years in office. Most Republicans in Congress voted against the resolutions both times. Now, Representative Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) has introduced a bill to expunge the second impeachment of Trump to try and clear his name.

Mullin received support from 28 other Republicans who made the stand on May 18. According to a press release from the congressman, the resolution looks at the “absurdities on which the lone article of impeachment was based,” adding that Democrats ignored all important legislative processes. He explained they used the impeachment power as a weapon to fight against election issues they themselves had voiced in 2016.

The 2021 impeachment that Mullins wants Congress to wipe out occurred after the January 6 incident at the Capitol. The representative launched a previous bid to void the former president’s first impeachment as well.

The Democrats have majority control in the US House of Representatives, so the resolution will not pass. Still, the move and support by other GOP members is a sign they still back Trump. It is further proof that the former president maintains some power even though he’s been out of office for over a year.
