(LibertySons.org) – Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has gone his own way in leading his state through the health emergency. On February 24, the Florida Department of Health aligned with his views and issued guidance that allows doctors to prescribe drugs for off-label use and to use new treatment options to fight COVID-19. It also explained that use should come with proper medical evidence backing and patient consent. The guidance protects doctors from lawsuits and gives patients more options to treat their illnesses.
“We want people to be able to have a right to access these medications,” @GovRonDeSantis said.

The move shows DeSantis’ continued focus on personal freedoms and doing what is best for his citizens, which has made him a rising star among Republicans.
If a medical facility prevents a doctor from using medications or treatments not recommended by federal health agencies, the guidance allows them to file a report with the Agency for Health Care Administration.
Florida Surgeon General Dr. Joseph Ladapo remarked the change allows doctors to practice medicine using their expertise to treat patients in the best way possible without pushback. According to the Department of Health, letting physicians choose the course of treatment is best as it individualizes care for optimal results.
